When a customer brings a vehicle to Palm Beach Dyno for dyno tuning, chances are extremely high that we have already tuned the same platform, engine, transmission, power adder, fuel type, or a very similar combination many times before. Our remote tuning operation exposes our calibration team to a huge number of vehicles and combinations — that creates a massive real-world knowledge base.
A typical dyno shop may see a specific vehicle combination occasionally. PBD may have already seen the same vehicle, the same supercharger, the same turbo system, the same fuel system, the same transmission, the same fuel, the same common calibration issue, and the same drivability problem — across customers throughout the country and around the world.

Many remote tuning businesses develop a calibration using one development vehicle, a handful of vehicles, or sometimes no ongoing in-house dyno validation at all. PBD operates differently. Every customer vehicle presents another opportunity to confirm existing strategies, discover platform differences, identify factory software changes, compare hardware combinations, validate new calibration strategies, find drivability improvements, refine transmission behavior, improve safety strategies, and identify hardware limitations.
A calibration developed three years ago should not necessarily be identical to one delivered today. PBD tunes continuously evolve as we collect more data.

Performance tuning contains countless variables. Two vehicles that appear identical can behave differently because of manufacturing tolerances, fuel quality, weather, elevation, hardware differences, software revisions, transmission differences, sensor variation, installation differences, and vehicle mileage. The only way to understand those differences is to see enough vehicles.
PBD's combination of remote tuning volume and daily dyno tuning exposes our calibration team to a much larger dataset than a tuner working with only occasional local vehicles.

Evaluate the current calibration and vehicle behavior where appropriate.
Adjust the calibration based on the vehicle combination and collected data.
Test power, fueling, ignition, boost, torque control, and other relevant parameters.
Verify that the calibration works outside of a single wide-open-throttle pull.
Confirm that the vehicle is operating consistently and that the calibration matches the customer's intended use.
